Do you have one or more missing permanent teeth? Have you experienced facial sagging, eating problems, and speech issues due to missing teeth? Ask us about dental implant restorations. Dental implants are stable dental restorations that hold dental crowns, dental bridges, and dentures in place. We provide dental implants and implant services under one roof in Fleming Island, FL dental office. Dr. John Verville and his dental team use Biomet 3i implants, which benefit patients with low bone density. These implants have a bone-bonding component that can speed up recovery time.
Types of Dental Implants
There are multiple types of implants and implant restorations that we offer in-office:
Single Tooth Implants
A single dental implant comprises a titanium post, attaching abutment, and a dental crown. The implant feels and functions like the tooth root. Whether a patient has lost a tooth due to an injury, extraction, or poor oral health, we can restore their smile with a restoration that improves their oral health. Traditional removable restorations lay on top of the gums. However, even a single implant can stimulate the bone and gum tissue and prevent facial sagging or dental infections.
Multiple Teeth Implants
Dental bridges and dentures are options for patients with rows or arches of missing teeth. A traditional bridge uses adjacent natural teeth for support. These teeth are covered with dental crowns and keep a false tooth or teeth in place. However, a single dental implant or multiple implants can replace a traditional bridge to replace a row of missing teeth. Hybrid implants are a type of denture held in place by implants. Unlike traditional dentures, hybrid implants can only be removed by a dentist.
All-On-X
Implant-secured dentures are a great option for patients who have tried other traditional restorations but need a permanent solution for tooth loss. All-On-X treatment can use four or more dental implants to stabilize an upper or lower arch. Each patient will require a different number of implants depending on their specific needs. We take detailed scans and x-rays to determine the best areas to place these implants and how many are required for treatment.
Dental Implant Treatment in Fleming Island, FL
We use CBCT scanning technology to plan implant treatment. Cone-beam computed tomography uses cone-shaped dental x-rays so we can see the hard tissues or teeth and bone in the mouth. Using these scans, we plan where to place the implants. We can perform bone grafting as needed if patients do not have sufficient jaw bone tissue to support their implants. Bone grafting
Once we ensure that patients are in good oral health and have enough healthy jaw bone tissue, we begin treatment. Dr. Verville can place and restore one or more implants for patients in his office. First, he will take dental x-rays and impressions to create the implant crown, bridge, or denture.
He will place the implant post or posts underneath the gums into the jaw bone. Then, he will place a healing cap on the implants. Over 3 to 6 months, the implants will fuse with the jaw bone. Once the implants are healed, he attached the custom dental restoration to the implants.
