You probably know that missing a tooth can be embarrassing, and that you should have a missing tooth addressed as soon as possible. However, did you know that missing teeth can also affect the health of your entire mouth? If you’re missing teeth, we recommend considering the benefits of a bridge or an implant.

An implant is one option you should consider. Implants are extremely useful because of their durability. Like other restorations, implants are designed to look and feel like natural teeth, but if you care for your implant well, they could last for decades. In fact, many patients who have an implant never need to have it replaced.

If you’re missing multiple teeth, an implant may not be the best option for you. Instead, we recommend considering the benefits of a dental bridge. Bridges are attached to a natural tooth, or to an implant. This makes bridges extremely sturdy. Bridges are also useful because one bridge can be used to replace up to three teeth. While not as durable as implants, bridges can last for up to ten years.

Did you know that there are other issues that you may have to deal with if you have a missing tooth? For instance, if you’re missing a tooth, you could have bad breath, be more likely to have tooth decay, or experience shifting teeth.
